About the Subject:
Vehicle dynamics refers
to the dynamics of vehicles, here
assumed to be ground vehicles. Vehicle
dynamics is a part of engineering primarily based on
classical mechanics. This article applies primarily to automobiles. For
single-track vehicles, specifically the two-wheeled variety, see
bicycle and motorcycle dynamics.
Topics to be
covered in this Seminar:
Definitions, Modeling and Simulation,
Global and Vehicle Coordinate System - Tire forces and moments, Tire structure,
Longitudinal and Lateral force at various slip angles, rolling resistance - Human
response to vibration, Sources of Vibration. Design and analysis of Passive,
Semi-active and Active suspension using Quarter car, half car and full car
model - Aerodynamic forces and moments. Equation of motion - Steady state
handling characteristics. Steady state response to steering input. Testing of
handling characteristics
